Postgraduate Study Day in Ageing Research

Friday, 21 April 2017. 09.30-16.00

The Education Centre, Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Dublin

Please bring this information to the attention of any post-graduate students or other colleagues who might be interested in participating in, or attending, this unique event. 

This Study Day is designed to encourage, support and facilitate students who are registered for a postgraduate degree (MD, PhD, MSc) in the field of ageing research.  We welcome students who would like to present, those considering a career in research, or those who simply have an interest in ageing research. Research supervisors will also find this event to be of interest.

The outline format of this event will be as follows:

  • Welcome and opening address by Mo Flynn, President IGS
  • *Keynote presentation
  • Student presentations
  • Refreshment break
  • Keynote presentation
  • Student presentations
  • Lunch
  • Keynote presentation
  • Plenary discussion and close

*Keynote presentations will examine issues of interest to all students in ageing research.  The keynote speakers are:

 Postgraduate students are welcome from:  Nursing, Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language, Social work, Sociology, Biology, Psychology, Health Policy, Health Economics, Audiology and any discipline concerned with Healthy & Active Ageing.

Presentation places are limited.  Student applications should be made immediately to Elaine O Connor, IGS Hon. Sec. by email secretary@irishgerontology.com

The closing date for applications to present is Friday 24 March. Each student presenting will be allocated 15 minutes. 12 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for questions/discussion.
