On Thursday 17th December 7.00-8.30 pm, the Irish Gerontological Society will host a special and very different seasonal online event for our members and their families.  It is a “gift” to IGS members for supporting us during the year and an acknowledgement of the unusual times we are living and working in.

It is intended to be a night “OUT” but “AT HOME” with friends, family or your “social bubble” who might even be connectable virtually through this event, if that makes sense! All you will need to do is bring your own mince pies, mulled wine, Christmas jumper and Christmas spirit, then sit back and enjoy!

Presenters: Prof Rose Anne Kenny, Dr Diarmuid O’Shea

Special Guests: Mary and Brenda Donohue (RTE), Prof Davis Coakley, Prof Luke O’Neill (TCD), Secret Celebrity Chef (IRL),

Book Launch: “Emergence” - A Celebration of the Wisdom and Resilience of Ageing

Readings: A selection of poetry and prose recited and read by IGS colleagues and guests

Music: Performances by talented IGS members and others!

And more!

Our  programme, presented online via Zoom, will be an eclectic seasonal mix of live and pre-recorded contributions.  Throughout, using the chat function, IGS members will be able to reconnect, network and chat with colleagues and friends that they may not have seen since last year’s annual conference.

This is a meeting with a difference, in keeping with our changed times.   Your company for the evening will make it all the more enjoyable.

Here’s hoping you can make the time to join in.

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas from all in the IGS
