Covid-19 in the Older Person – Webinar

A webinar is being run by the RCPI  (the seventh COVID-19 clinical update the RCPI has run), this Wednesday 29 April 2020 at 5pm GMT. A live webinar, COVID-19: Update for Clinicians, will be available to watch online from 5pm on the day. 

It is an opportunity for RCPI members to hear updates on Covid-19 in the older person, residential care facilities' response, end of life care, and frailty assessment. Talks will be followed by a live Q&A session with the panel. The event is hosted by the RCPI President and chaired by Professor Anthony O'Regan, who has organised the event on behalf of the Institute of Medicine at RCPI.

The lectures for this event are:

·     An integrated approach to the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Older Person - Dr Siobhan Kennelly, National Clinical Lead, National Clinical Programme for Older Persons

·     Residential Care Facilities' COVID-19 Response - Prof Sean Kennelly, Geriatrician, Tallaght University Hospital

·     End of Life Care - Prof Karen Ryan, Palliative Care, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital

·     Use of Frailty Assessment - Prof Shaun O'Keeffe, Geriatrician, Galway University Hospitals

Geriatricians and RCPI members around the country who book online in advance to watch this event live via the RCPI website may be able to host this in their own local hospital while following appropriate social distancing guidelines.  If people cannot watch it live it can be watched subsequently as all of the talks will be uploaded from Thursday morning, and could be accessed via the RCPI Archive of Masterclasses
