Last week, Clúid Housing held a seminar, The Housing and Support Needs of Older Tenants, which included four presentations, and an impassioned speech from the Minister of State with responsibility for older people, Kathleen Lynch T.D. who officially launched the fourth Adrian Norridge research report: A Home for Life: the housing and support needs of Clúid’s older tenants.
These presentations available on the Clúid website, as well as photos and media coverage from the day.
The report itself is available to download here. The research highlights that, as people get older, they want to stay in their own home and in many cases can be helped to so with appropriate supports. This is also the most cost-effective option in almost all cases. In addition, Clúid believes that the Government could make very significant savings by reconfiguring sheltered housing to keep people out of nursing homes unless they really need to be there.
